BASSETERRE, St.  Kitts – OFFICERS of the Stapleton Police Station are making investigations into a two-bus traffic accident which resulted in some 10 individuals being taken to the hospital for treatment or observation.

Persons traversing the St. Peters main road earlier today were in a state of astonishment having observed a motor omnibus lodged in a ditch on the mountain side of the road in vicinity of the junction of the St. Peters Main Road and Tegreman Boulevard.

Information received by this media house from the Traffic Department indicated that the incident occurred at about 7:45 a.m. and involved omnibus HA237, owned and driven by Mervin ‘Rocko’ Walters of Stapleton Village, and omnibus HA119, owned and driven by St. Claire ‘Bully’ Maynard of Nelson Street, Lower Monkey Hill.

SKNVibes understands that both vehicles were travelling towards Basseterre with HA237 in front and it had stopped to allow passengers to embark. At that point, HA119 was attempting to overtake and HA237 drove off. And in an attempt to avoid a major collision, HA119 swerved and landed in the ditch.

SKNVibes understands that the three passengers who were in HA237 and the six in HA119 along with that vehicle’s driver were taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital.

While the others were treated and sent away from the hospital, the driver, Maynard, has been warded there. However, the extent of his injuries is not known to this media house.

His vehicle has sustained considerable damage.
