BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (June 2, 2005): Plans to establish a Technology Park at Conaree continues to progress with the arrival in St. Kitts of a three-member evaluation team courtesy of the Government of Mexico.

The team, comprising Dr. Patricia Elena-Valdes, Ms. Maribel Solis and Dr. Gustavo Nunez, was met at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport by Ambassador Rosalyn Hazelle of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

While here, the team will review components of the Governments proposed Technology Park and meet with various stakeholders, including Private Sector representatives and officials of the Ministry of Education.

Speaking shortly after the arrival of the team, Ambassador Hazelle explained that the Technology Park was a critical aspect of the Governments economic diversification strategy.

She indicated that a successful Park would help to improve our international competitiveness, create a high value export, provide support for related small enterprise, and ultimately contribute to the achievement of a better quality of life for citizens and residents.

The Mexico university-based team brings expertise in computer technology and information systems, business incubator experience and marketing all relative to technology based information industries.
