BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THREE young footballers from St. Kitts and Nevis have been selected to attend the Digicel Academy later this year in Barbados, where they will receive a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to undergo training under the leadership of coaches of one the biggest football clubs in the world, Chelsea FC.
The young men were selected by the Chelsea Football Club Foundation coaches after a clinic held yesterday (Apr. 30) from a field of over 30 aspiring footballers.
The fortunate individuals, Yohannes Mitchum, Ashbal Nisbett and Geovannie Lake will be attending the Academy in October along with wildcard player Xavier Henry.
Following the launch and first Clinic in Trinidad, the Digicel Kick Start Clinic 2013 programme took place in Haiti, where Chelsea coaches trained over 30 boys from across that country.
The Clinic then travelled to Jamaica and Suriname before continuing to Grenada, St. Vincent, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Panama and Antigua.

The top three most talented footballers from each country will be chosen to travel to the Digicel Academy, which takes place in Barbados from October 21 to October 26 this year.
In the St. Kitts and Nevis, tryouts were held by the local football association in order to select those who will attend the Clinic.
The Clinic - which is a partnership among Digicel, Chelsea FC and the SKNFA - seeks to discover young blossoming football talent that meets the prerequisites of age, outstanding skill, good attitude and other unique qualities.
The selectees will travel with the coaches to join with other players from across the region.
Jamar Smith, Tahir Hanley and Raheem Francis were selected to attend the Academy in 2012.
