BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – COPPERSHOT, a world renowned sound system from Jamaica, is scheduled to perform in the Federation for the second on Sunday (May 5) at an event dubbed ‘Twisted Desires’, which is being organised by Europe Fridayz Promotions and Twisted Entertainment.
The party is slated to take place at Club Kactus in Bird Rock, starting at 12 midnight.
Other acts on the line-up are Nu Vybes Band International, Unstoppable Chalice, Mixclusive, Kollison Band, Mad Squad Sound and DJs Sister Sensia and Shaggy.
According to www.dancehallreggaeworld.com, the 1994-established Coppershot is “known as one of the greatest modern sound systems.”
SKNVibes recently had a sit-down interview with two members of Twisted Entertainment, Jade Johnson and Jamie Adams.
Members of Coppershot are expected to arrive on island this morning (May 4) and will be engaged in live radio interviews as part of the party’s promotion efforts.
“We want to give them a really good St. Kitts experience. We’re going to take them to a party to see how a party in SK is,” Johnson said.
Adams explained that Twisted Entertainment was established in January of this year. The group, he said, comprises seven members, ages 21 to 35, and most of whom are from the Newtown.
He highlighted that the mission of the group is “to make an impact on the entertainment industry that basically seems dropped in terms of the quality of the entertainment right now, especially when it comes to parties”.
This media house questioned whether Twisted Entertainment would only be promoting party events, to which Adams replied, “We don’t want to stick to the party scene…we want to branch off into other ventures.
“It’s been a while since you’ve gotten a good party going in terms of overseas performance. So, basically, we’re just trying to bring back the partying and bring back out the mature people to come out and party, because nowadays you go to a party you seeing people 15 and 16-year-olds. That’s why we put it on the poster 18 and older. We don’t want the stigma of having those young people.
“You hear Sugar Band, you go and see that the majority of 16-year-olds and that deters a lot of the older folks, like people my age in their 30s who want to go out and lime and party. They go out and see these little kids in the session; they don’t feel comfortable, so we want o create a mature environment where the mature adults can feel comfortable and party.”
Minors are being cautioned that the party-organisers are sticking to the 18 and older theme and there will be “no exception”.
As a precautionary measure, ID must be provided once the security thinks an attendee is below 18 years of age.
Adams was in high praise of the size and layout of Club Kactus.
“The size of the venue is more appropriate for what we want to cater for. There would be the DJs who are normally on the dance floor and the bands would be outside. So patrons have the choice whether to listen to the band or the DJs.”
SKNVibes understands that future events to be hosted by Twisted Entertainment will not cater for people18 years and older because there would instances when the group would have organised events that cater for all ages.
“We don’t want to stigmatise our events and say 18-plus unless it’s a party,” Adams said.
Before the year ends, Twisted Entertainment is planning to host at least two other events.
We want to encourage everyone 18 and over to come out to Twisted Entertainment’s event. This is going to be an event that you don’t want to miss. It is going to be talked about for months to come. So, yes, Club Kacts is the place to be on Sunday,” Johnson explained.
