Internal heist suspected at Barbados Central Bank

~~Adz:Right~~ BRIDGETOWN, Barbados-AN undisclosed number of brand new $100 bills have been reported missing from the Barbados Central Bank, which appears to be an internal heist as auditors began a massive review of the bank’s funds.

The bank reported the theft through a press release on Monday (Nov. 10), though they stated that it allegedly took place on October 30. The exact amount of the theft is being withheld from public knowledge at this time in order to protect ongoing investigations.

“The Bank has commenced an immediate audit and evaluation of the systems and processes currently being used, and is conducting a full assessment of the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the notes,” the release stated.

In an effort to employ the general public’s assistance in finding the missing bills and tracking the thieves, the Barbados Central Bank released the serial number of the notes.

“These notes may be in circulation and the Bank is therefore enlisting the assistance of the public in solving the matter.

“Members of the public who come into possession of any of the notes with serial numbers in the range indicated above should not negotiate the notes but bring them directly to the Central Bank. The Bank will exchange the notes for other new notes.”

Those serial numbers released are in the missing series of E22515001 to E22517000, E22521001 to E22522000, E22525001 to E22529000 and E22530001 to E22537000.
