Two hundred and fifty expected in for conference

    Bridgetown, Barbados; April 24, 2013  --  The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB) is expected to boost tourism figures in June when they host the 31st Annual Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean (ICAC).

     

    It is expected that approximately 250 members of the accounting and financial services fraternity from around the Caribbean will meet another 300 of their local counterparts at the Hilton Barbados on June 27th for the 2 day conference which is expected to attract some leading local, regional and international speakers.

     

    With a working theme of ‘Global Challenges, Regional Solutions’, attendance at the conference will go towards professional credits for those delegates registering and present at the meetings which include technical sessions on Audit and Public Sector Accounting, Management Accounting and Internal Audit as well as sessions on Renewable Energy, Regional Air Transport and Feeding Caricom.

     

    Prime Minister the Hon. Freundel Stuart has been invited to deliver the feature address while the keynote speaker on the first morning of the conference is Mr. Wendell Samuel from the International Monetary Fund. His topic will deal with the Challenges of Fiscal Consolidation and Debt Reduction in the Caribbean.

     

    One of the guest speakers during the conference will be the Deputy Division Chief of the International Monetary Fund, Dr Wendell Samuel who will speak on ‘Challenges of Fiscal Consolidation and Debt Reduction in the Caribbean’.

     

    Delegates will be invited to attend plenary and breakout sessions as well as panel discussions. These will cover a wide range of topics including Gender Diversity in the Boardroom, Employee Engagement, Caribbean Tourism Outlook and Caribbean Growth and Competitiveness. 

     

    The 31st Annual Caribbean Conference is sponsored by a number of corporate entities including the large accounting firms on the island.
