BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER evading the police for just over a month, wanted man Raymond Pemberton, also known as Ras and Attai, of Carty Alley, Newtown was apprehended on Friday, May 10.
According to a police press release, sometime during Friday evening, the hunt for Pemberton ended when a joint task force comprising members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force apprehended him in the New Road area.
He was taken into “police custody and later formally charged for the offence of attempted murder and remanded at Her Majesty's Prison”.
“Commissioner of Police CG Walwyn takes this opportunity to thank all those persons who were instrumental in the success in the apprehension of Raymond Pemberton,” the release reads.
The police, to date, have not provided any information on the person he attempted to murder. But SKNVibes was told that the victim is a female with whom the 43-year-old man had a relationship and he allegedly inflicted several chops on her body, including one of her hands, with a machete.
SKNVibes also learnt that she was under police protection whilst warded at the JNF General Hospital and was recently discharged.
