BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WITH memories of the previous still in mind, residents of St. Kitts experienced another earthquake earlier this evening (May 18).
It was about 7:53 p.m. when the quake took place measuring 4.8 on the Richter Scale.
The previous took place at the end of April, 2013, occurring just off Barbuda (17.488°N 62.142°W) measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) reports that this evening’s earthquake also occurred just off Barbuda, 17.423°N 62.008°W with a depth of 20.3 km.
According to reports which have reached this publication, persons heard a rumbling sound and expreienced an accoupanying shaking. And the shaking reportedly lasted between three and five seconds.
It is not believed that damage or injuries resulted from the quake but that is left to be confirmed.
