BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A big blazing bonfire, rocking music and the inviting ocean created a feel-good atmosphere for partygoers who attended Young Money Entertainment’s May Day Beach Party at Friar’s Bay on Sunday (May 19).
The fete, dubbed ‘Wet and Wild Edition’, saw a few attendees appropriately dressed for the outdoor event, especially females in their two-piece swimwear. Others, however, were obviously dressed to stay on land and ‘lime’ around looking stylish.
Quincy Augustus, founder of Young Money Entertainment, told SKNVibes that the event was “good” although the turnout was not what he expected.
“In my opinion, I didn’t expect the turnout to be how it was, but to me it was good. Drinks sold out, food sold out and everybody enjoyed themselves. I didn’t expect the kind of turnout it had, but I’m satisfied.”
Commenting on what he would say to critics who comment on the seemingly far location for the event, Augustus replied: “Everybody (usually) does the same thing. I just wanted to do something different; different atmosphere, different environment. You know you gotta make things different, you can’t do things the same. So everybody support it and they say they need a next one. So we working on that…that’s called ‘Detention’ which will take place on June 15.”
The entertainment line-up for the May Day affair included DJ Cool, Mad Squad and Real Sound, as well as three sound systems from sister isle Nevis - Brave Heart International, Black Pantha Sounds and Black Stone Sounds.
There were also live performances from popular national artistes Infamus, I-Bush and ITYC.
