BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THREE convicted men are expected to appear before His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas tomorrow (May 24) for sentencing; two of them having pleaded guilty and one being found guilty of the offences with which they were charged.
The men, Camron Wilkinson, Benson Thomas and Esroy Mills, pleaded and were found guilty during the January 2013 Criminal Assizes and had their sentencing traversed.
Thirty-six-year-old Wilkinson was charged with the October 31, 2011 unlawful carnal knowledge of a 44-year-old woman who is viewed by law as a child because of her incapacity.
He pleaded guilty to the charge on March 26, 2013, the day his trial was set to begin.
Thomas, who is a resident of Cayon, also pleaded guilty to unlawful carnal knowledge. The offence was committed December 1, 2011 with a child under the age of 12.
Thomas, who is said to be more than 50 years old, committed the act at the child's residence while he was visiting one of her relatives.
Mills was found guilty by a 10-woman-two-man jury of one count of assault with intent to commit a felony and one count of shooting at with intent.
He was said to have shot at Bichara Isaac sometime after 4:00 p.m. on July 4, 2011 while in the vicinity of the Cayon Primary School, and that on the same day he pointed a gun at Constable Glenroy Stanley with intent to commit a felony.
The men, having completed their Social Inquiry Reports, will be sentenced tomorrow.
If given custodial sentences, Wilkinson and Thomas would receive a mandatory one third reduction because of their guilty pleas.
