BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A Conaree man was sent to Her Majesty's Prison this afternoon (May 22) to await sentencing after he was unanimously found guilty of three counts of indecent assault committed against a female under the age of 14.
Thirty-nine-year-old Eartis Harris was charged with the acts which were said to have been committed on three occasions - once in 2010 and twice in 2011.
The convict was said to have been 'bunking' at the home of the victim and used the opportunity to commit the act while the other residents were asleep.
Seven witnesses gave evidence on behalf of the prosecution, including the victim and Dr. Mervin Laws.
The Prosecution team was led by Counsel Greatess Gordon while Harris was represented by Attorney-at-Law John Cato.
After the prosecution rested its case, Harris took the stand in an effort to prove his innocence.
SKNVibes understands that, in his testimony, he denied indecently assaulting the child and told the Court that he treated her as if she were his own daughter.
This publication also understands that Harris called one person to give evidence on his behalf.
Following closing arguments by counsel on both sides and the judge's summation, the jury retired for deliberation and later returned with unanimous guilty verdicts on each count.
Harris will be sentenced later in the Assizes following the completion of a Social Inquiry Report.
