Basseterre, St. Kitts (February 26, 2004): The Managing Director of Terra Forma Developments Ltd. Valmiki Kempadoo credited the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis for its vision in serving the people of the country.

Mr. Kempadoo, who is in St. Kitts for the ongoing process related to the redevelopment project for Warner Park, made the comments during an interview with SKNIS. He also said that the island was perfectly positioned infra structurally  to host major events such as the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup.

“I’ve been coming to St. Kitts for various projects for the past seven years and enjoy the island, I really love the people and most of what I enjoy is that the government is very progressive,” he said. “I’ve worked with many Caribbean governments and I’ve found that the St. Kitts and Nevis government is particularly progressive in looking at the way forward.”

He noted that the airport extension, Port Zante construction and the Marriott investment is all a part of a clear strategy to sustain development.

During the interview, Mr. Kempadoo outlined the various components of the project which includes the construction of a cricket facility with state-of-the-art amenities as well as a football field which will be surrounded by a 400metre athletic track.

The managing director explained that the field for these facilities will be constructed using modern techniques and materials such as the introduction of Bermuda grass as well as a proper drainage system which will prevent flooding and a muddy field.

“We will never have a washout on that ground,” he stressed.

An integral part of the redevelopment process is public consultations. The consultations are organised by the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sport to update stakeholders on the proposed redevelopment project and gain feedback from the participants. Mr. Kempadoo indicated that such  consultations are a part of his company’s philosophy and thus was happy to participate.  He revealed that the opinions of the stakeholders have been noted and some changes have been made to the original concept to reflect their suggestions.

The full interview with Valmiki Kempadoo will air on a future SKNIS programme.
