Basseterre, St Kitts (21 May 2013) -- The Rotary Club of Liamuiga (RCL) 2013 Talent Search Competition got off to a rainy start at the St. Anne’s Anglican Church Hall in Sandy Point on Tuesday, 21 May 2013 when the West Zone Primary Schools Eliminations was conducted.
As a result Dieppe Bay Primary’s Pethal Bradshaw and Aziel Belle will represent the West Zone in the Dance and Poetry Segments respectively while Lerecia Williams of Sandy Point Primary will represent in the Vocal Music Segment.
In addition to assisting with judging the performances presented by the students, a judge from each category gave the children and teachers useful tips to assist in the improvement of their performance for the future.
The RCL extends heartfelt thanks to this year’s sponsors, Western Union and Ram’s Trading Limited (local agents of Seven Seas). Ram’s has partnered with the RCL since 2005 in the successful execution of this Series of Events. Grace Kennedy Money Services of Jamaica under the banner of Western Union is sponsoring for the first time this year and is welcomed and commended for this decision, especially in light of the current harsh economic climate that is being experienced by all.
The Ministry of Education and the Schools and Teachers, including the Talent Co-ordinators and Talent Tutors, are thanked for their continuous support of this Venture.
It is also fitting that the judges for the various segments be thanked wholeheartedly for willingly giving of their time and talent to assist in the adjudication of this Competition which assists in fostering excellence in the performing arts among our children. Our judges for the West Zone Eliminations were Kesha Isaac-Adams, Calvin Esdaille, Vincent Fough, Larry Vaughan, Eustace Warner and Schneidman Warner.
The winners of the West Zone Eliminations will challenge the winners from the East and Central Zone Primary Schools Eliminations during the Finals of the Competition which will be held on Thursday, 6 June 2013 at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium, Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), Bird Rock, St. Kitts.
