BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AN appeal is being made to the public to patronise a carwash event that will take place this weekend in Verchild’s Village in an effort to raise much needed monies to help fund an overseas operation for a toddler diagnosed with a kidney tumour.

The carwash is being organised by the St. Thomas Trinity Strikers Football Club and is slated to take place on Saturday (May 25) at the Green Tree lawn in Verchild’s Village, stating at 8:00 a.m.

Fourteen-month-old Harzaney Marshall was on Wednesday (May 15) diagnosed with a tumour on his left kidney and he is in need of urgent medical attention, which requires him being flown to a hospital in Virginia, USA.

These details were shared with SKNVibes by the child’s mother, Sharilan Hendrickson, during a recent interview.

“Last Sunday he was playing normally in the day, but then in the night I realised his side was swollen and he was fussy.”

Hendrickson said she had taken him to the hospital and an X-ray was ordered. An Ultra Sound procedure was also done and it was the CT scan which “saw it”.

Additionally, the little boy would have to get an MRI done in Antigua.

Asked how Harzaney is doing, she commented:  “He’s okay for now. We are just trying to work on getting him to go for the operation as soon as possible.”

On her part as a mother however, “It’s very stressful...sleepless nights...can’t eat. It’s really hard!”

Hendrickson is originally from Old Road but is currently living at Stone Fort Heights with her boyfriend (the child’s father), Hazon Marshall.

The couple wishes to send the following message to the public:

“The parents, family members and friends of Harzarney Marshall take this opportunity to thank each and everyone for assisting us in any way that is possible. We will be forever grateful. We are praying for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.  Please remember him in your prayers.”

Individuals who wish to contribute to this worthy cause may do so at the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank to the Harzaney Marshall Medical Fund...account number 10254764.
