BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ANOTHER man is currently on trial for a sexual offence; having been charged with rape.
The accused is said to have raped a young lady on November 24, 2012.
The trial began on Wednesday (May 22) with 10 witnesses, including the victim and Dr. Vance Gilbert, who gave evidence on behalf of the prosecution which is being led by Acting Director of Public Prosecution Rhonda Nisbett-Browne.
The prosecution team closed its case on Thursday (May 23).
The accused is self-represented and would, on Monday (May 27), have the opportunity to take the stand and/or call witnesses to testify on his behalf.
If not, the prosecution would give its closing arguments and His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas would give his summation before the 10-woman-two-man jury retires for deliberation.
SKNVibes understands that the victim was taken from her home just after 9:00 p.m. on the said night to be transported to Sandy Point, but the accused allegedly stopped on the way and took her into some bushes and raped her.
This publication also understands that the act was allegedly intended to be repeated the next morning but it was not fulfilled.
If convicted, the accused can possibly spend the rest of his life in prison.
