New Radio Program to Feature Leader of PAM

By: Public Relations Office of PAM Secretariat, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, Tuesday 28th May, (PAM Communications Unit) - A new radio program will be launched here on Wednesday, 5th June, 2013, featuring the leader of the opposition People's Action Movement, PAM, Hon. Shawn Richards.

The one hour show will be hosted on Sugar City Fm 90.3
http://www.sugarcityfm.com and will be broadcast from 9:00am until 10:00am. However plans are already in place to extend the program to two hours, in the near future.

According an official of the Communicatuions Unit of the party, this initiative comes as part of their exercise to better inform the public about important events and developments taking place in St. Kitts and Nevis and the world generally.

The program will also provide perspectives on the way forward for the development of the country, but it will also seek to provide insights into how best to move the country forward, out of the present financial and economic troubles being faced by so many ordinary Kittitians and Nevisians and local businesses.

Members of the public will also be given the opportunity to participate via their telephone calls.

The show will be titled, "Moving Forward".

During the past year, the PAM has intensified its efforts to sensitize the population and in 2012 introduced another radio program called "People's Forum", hosted on WINN FM radio, every Thursday at 8:00pm.

A PAM spokesman said that for too long the country has been denied the opportunity to get a different perspective from opposition parties because they have been prevented access to the government owned radio and television station, ZIZ, which on the other hand, provides daily coverage to the ruling Labour Party, including the live broadcast of its annual conference. While opposition parties have sometimes gotten exposure through interviews on private stations, they do not have similar privileges on ZIZ.

The only option for now, said the PAM spokesman, is to buy air time on private stations, which is a very costly exercise. However, they said that despite the high cost, the People's Action Movement feels that it is important to find creative ways to communicate with the public so that they can have the benefit of another view, on so many issues that are confronting the nation. This is therefore what is intended when "Moving Forard", hits the airwaves next week Wednesday, said the official.
