Charlestown Nevis (June 8, 2005) Nevis Small Business Development Officer, Ms Deborah Tyrell said on Wednesday 8, that the small business community on the island was preparing to meet the challenges of the future.
She attributed it to the fact that members of the business community adopted a draft constitution during an extra ordinary meeting held last evening (Tuesday 7).  This action serves to establish an act of Small Business Association.

Ms Tyrell explained that from several meetings which were organized by the Small Enterprise Development Unit (SEDU) of the Nevis Island Administration, a number of interested business persons attended and gave their support to the idea of developing an association.

According to Ms Tyrell, persons present volunteered to serve on an interim committee in order to move forward. She noted that from the adoption of the constitution and the formation of the interim committee, SEDU will no longer be the voice of the business community.  However, the SEDU officer will be a non voting member of the association.

The association has fifteen months within which to ratify their constitution and elect a management committee at an annual general meeting.
