CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – A 52-year-old man, who was allegedly the last person seen with 18-year-old Chazere Davis prior to her death, was arrested and charged with murder.
He is Jerome Kelvin Williams of Maynard Ground, Nevis, whom the police stated in a press release was on Tuesday (May 28) “formally arrested and charged on a warrant in the first instance for the murder of Chazere Davis, which was committed on Monday 20th May 2013 at Taylor’s Pasture”.
The motionless body of the 18-year-old sixth former was discovered in her home by a family member on the night of Monday (May 20).
The police, having learned that Williams was the last person with whom she was allegedly seen, went in search of him. They however found that his Maynard Ground residence was secured and they had to remove a door to gain entry.
On entering the home, they found Williams lying in a pool of blood in his bathroom with what appeared to be a self-inflicted wound to his neck.
Williams was taken to the Alexandra Hospital, where he was warded under police guard until his discharge and subsequent charge of murder.
This media house learned that shortly after being admitted to the hospital, Williams’ home was burnt to the ground.
An autopsy performed on Davis’ body revealed that she died as a result of strangulation/pressure to the neck.
