BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THURSDAY (May 30) was definitely an extra special day for the fans of Kollision Band and music lovers in the Federation, as it was revealed that the local band would get its debut performance on the upcoming 17th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival.
The entertainment news was made public yesterday afternoon on Freedom FM 106.5 by the Chairman of the St. Kitts Music Festival, Faron Lawrence, while making an appearance there.
The inclusion of Kollision Band on the Festival’s line-up is one that is well received by happy fans, since the its initial exclusion was met with much discontent by many people following the April 26 Phase One announcement of the local acts.
Fans had taken to social media networks to air their disappointment and had stated their position that the Kollison Band deserved 'ah do’ on the big stage.
SKNVibes spoke with the band’s Manager, Shervin Whyte, who voiced his pleasure on its addition to the line-up.
“The band is really happy. It’s long overdue but we are happy that the fans realised the potential of the band.”
Whyte was pleased that the “St. Kitts Music Festival Committee listened to fans and community at large”; the people who have been calling on them (Committee Members) and also calling the radio stations to give their opinions.
Kollision Band had placed second in the 2012-2013 Sugar Mas ( St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival) Road March Competition with a song called ‘Big Shake’ off its ‘Armed and Dangerous’ album.
