BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO goals from Kittitian football hero Atiba Harris earned Colorado Rapids a draw against his former team FC Dallas.
The match, which ended in a two all draw, saw Harris opening Colorado’s account in the 56th minute after he outmuscled a Dallas defender for positioning and winning a header that went into the bottom corner of the goal to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Eight minutes later, he found himself alone in the box for a quick cross-goal for his second of the game.
"He's such a professional player, he's always working and he knew that he didn't have a good year last year," Rapids head coach Oscar Pareja said of Harris post-game on Saturday. "It's an opportunity that the club is providing to him; he's embracing [it] and doing a great job. I’m very happy for him.”
“I've been practicing my finishing," Harris said in a post-game interview on Saturday. "And it's kind of paying off now."
Speaking with SKNVibes, Harris expressed his delight at maintaining his current goal scoring form.
“It was great to get on the score sheet but disappointed not to win the game. I think the team is growing in confidence though.”
Frustrated by a disappointing 2012 in Vancouver and early finishing struggles in 2013, the Rapids midfielder has carried an extra chip on his shoulder lately, working overtime after practices to polish his game.
He also commented on his team’s current position
“We're in a playoff spot so I'm happy about that and like the fact that we're competing in every game.”
