ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, June 4, 2013  --  In an effort to educate and train the public in completing payroll taxes and other tax forms, the Inland Revenue Department is spearheading a series of seminars throughout the Territory.

According to Acting Deputy Commissioner of Inland Revenue Department, Mr. Charles Benjamin, all taxpayers and those interested in opening businesses are encouraged to attend to ensure they are aware of the taxes, tax laws, processes and procedures.

In explaining the benefits of the ongoing series of seminars Mr. Benjamin said the information seeks to improve the manner in which taxpayers submit the relevant documents to the department; it ensures that the public is aware of its obligations as taxpayers and citizens of the Territory and it highlights the proper way of recordkeeping.

Mr. Benjamin said, “The department would strongly advise that the public take full advantage of these seminars as it would help to ensure effective preparations of forms.”

He added that the Inland Revenue Department is committed to being recognised as an efficient and effective tax administration dedicated to delivering customer service in an environment of integrity, fairness and mutual respect, thereby fostering voluntary compliance.
