Date to be set soon for debate on several pieces of legislation

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 5th 2013 (CUOPM) – The St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly will soon begin debate on several bills that the Cabinet sees are critical to the twin-island Federation.

     

     

     

    Minister of Information, Sen. the Hon. Nigel Carty has disclosed that during Monday’s Cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas a comprehensive update was presented by Attorney General, the Hon. Jason Hamilton.

     

     

     

    “He provided a comprehensive update on government’s legislative agenda, emphasizing that there are a number of critical bills to enhance democracy, transparency and the quality of life of our citizens,” said Mr. Carty in his post Cabinet Briefing.

     

     

     

    Among the bills mentioned were The Integrity in Public Life Bill, The Pharmacy Bill, The Police Complaints Bill, The Hire Purchase Bill, The Employment (Amendment) Bill, The National Assembly (Amendment) Bill and The VAT (Amendment) Bill.

     

     

     

    “The Cabinet agreed that a date should soon be set for the tabling and debating of these abovementioned bills for their passage into law,” said Minister Carty.
