Queens, NY: New York City’s flagship reggae, rhythm and blues summer concert Groovin In The Park is only weeks away. This not-to-be-missed concert featuring some of the biggest names in two popular New York City genres takes place on Sunday, June 30 at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens.
Music lovers in the ti-state region are securing their tickets early this year, and while all the talk is about Toots and the Maytals, Patti Labelle, Tyrese, Genuine and Tank (TGT), Sanchez, Coco Tea, Barrington Levy and Queen Ifrica, this year’s event is offering a whole lot more than the music.
“We see Groovin In The Park this year as encompassing a full New York City Caribbean cultural experience”, Chris Roberts, CEO of the festival stated.
“So many times music concerts are just about music but we are going beyond those borders to also make the festival a culinary treat that will offer a wide variety of delicious foods for our patrons,” he continued.
Several vendors will set up attractive stalls this year, offering the widest range possible of popular food selections. Jerked foods, curries, stews, soups and patties will be among the tasty treats and the choice of non-alcoholic beverages will be just as wide with vendors carrying an array of waters, juices, energy drinks and ice cold sodas to beat the summer heat.
In addition to the catering, the soul-warming colors of the Caribbean islands will dominate with the sale of multi-colored flags, t-shirts and towels, arm bands, necklaces, bumper stickers and other souvenirs. And with thousands of music fans packing the park, popular music CDs as well as DVDs will be available for sale to meet the upcoming July 4 holiday demand.
To further enhance the total Groovin In The Park experience, a super inclusive VIP section with limited space will be available for those who are seeking a first class ride. The area will offer a front row, hassle free vintage point for soaking up the live performances from the headline acts. It will also offer complimentary food and drink for the duration of the concert with catering from the world-class The Door Restaurant in Queens. Patrons wishing to take advantage of this de-luxe facility should indicate this at the point of ticket purchase.
