Two more charged in million dollar bank theft

~~Adz:Right~~ BRIDGETOWN, Barbados-CHARGES were filed yesterday (Nov. 20) against two more men involved with the theft of BSD $1.4 million from the Barbados Central Bank.

Those men, 21-year-old Shawn Durand Hurst and 35-year-old Shawn Antonio Rollins, are scheduled to appear before a magistrate’s court today for being found with varying amounts of the marked one hundred dollar notes.

Hurst, a shop owner, was found to have roughly $51,000 in his possession, while Rollins, a carpenter, was discovered with over $84,000.

Just one day prior to the arrest of the two men, a former vault attendant of the bank, 25-year-old Corrie Rock, was the first suspect charged in the case. He was remanded to prison during an opening hearing of the case for fear that he would potentially compromise the ongoing investigation.

Bank officials said that they will be reevaluating security processes throughout the bank as well as conducting a full audit as a result of the theft, which is believed to have taken place between July 1, 2006 to October 31, 2008.
