    Aid supplies distributed in Belize following flood

    ~~Adz:Left~~BELMOPAN, Belize – FAMILIES affected by flooding as a result of the passage of Tropical Depression Number 16 have received vital home supplies.

     

    According to Caribbean Net News, the Belize government in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Organisation launched the replacement of household items in the Cao District on Monday, November 27.

     

    The humanitarian effort is aimed at replacing main household items lost by the affected families, with items being furnished by local suppliers from throughout the country.

     

    So far 34 households have been the recipients of goods including stoves, gas tanks, sofas, refrigerators and mattresses. Houses affected by the flooding are also being repaired.

     

    On Monday (Nov. 17) the Taiwanese government donated US$100 000 to the country for flood relief and emergency medical supplies. Additionally, the Tao Yuan Hospital in Taiwan is shipping a container of medical equipment and the Taiwan International

     

    Health Action organisation is mobilising medical teams to provide assistance. These efforts come in the wake of Belize experiencing its worst flooding in recent times as a result of Tropical Depression Number 16, which also caused 540 residents in Rio Hondo to relocate due to threats of disease.
