BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - PROMISING local music producer, 22- year-old Javier ‘Silky’ Hutton of Nasa Records in St. Kitts, has collaborated with another producer from the island of Grenada in bringing about one of the newest Dancehall rhythms called Itchy Riddim.
Hutton, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Nasa Records, in speaking with SKNVibes, shared that the rhythm has been out for a little over one month.
This budding music entrepreneur is also a popular upcoming artiste who goes by the name ‘Silky’.
And he is one the artistes featured on the Itchy Riddim along with his fellow nationals and regional colleagues.
“The Itchy Riddim is a Dancehall riddim created and produced by Skyper out of Grenada and was given to me to co-produce, which I distributed among my artistes such as Wild Fire, Kemmical, Footsy, Max, MB, Blaxx, Blacfyah, Rico and myself,” he disclosed during the interview.
Notably, Blaxx is from Jamaica and Blacfyah is from Grenada.
Hutton clarified what is meant by co-produce.
“Co-produce means I am not the one who made the beat but I produce this Riddim in terms of production wise such as vocal recording at Nasa Records. So we work as partners in getting this project off the ground and making it a success.”
He expressed that this is his first overseas partnership pertaining to music, noting “Yes, that was my first and yeah I intend to continue doing so.”
Hutton has been producing music since 2009, and when asked what inspired him to get into that part of the music industry said, “Well, music is something I always loved. I just have a sweet tooth for music, singing, producing, etc. With my friend, plus family who were there to encourage me and push me, I made it a hobby.”
His song on the Itchy Riddim is called ‘Church’s Chicken’.
As gathered, the song is one of suggestive hilarity that pokes witty lyrics of comparison between the female anatomy and a popular fast food franchise in St. Kitts.
Other popular rhythms that Hutton has produced include ‘Nursery Riddim’ and ‘Settle Gal Riddim’.
Hutton outlined the positive meaning behind the name ‘Nasa’ in relation to the determined mindset of artistes in reaching far in the industry.
“Nasa simply means a group of positive artistes about to take off to the stars.”
