HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 6th, 2013 (acn) -- Cuban Culture Minister Rafael Bernal and his counterpart from Jamaica, Lisa Hanna, signed on Wednesday in this capital a cooperation agreement in the field of culture, which will allow for the organization of bilateral programs of development and training in that sphere.

The visiting official reaffirmed the validity of regional mechanisms like the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to achieve these efforts and declared herself to be in favor of the results of the recent meeting of culture ministers held in Suriname.

She confessed that she’s happy with her visit to Cuba, with which her country has been maintaining close relations for more than 40 years now. She insisted on similarities between the two nations, and thanked Cuba for its support in the fields of health and education.

Bernal highlighted the importance of this bilateral agreement for the strengthening of bonds between the two States and told the press that the agreement will serve to organize joint work in terms of training and community work, among other aspects.
