Trevicia Adams to represent SKN at Miss World Pageant

By: Winnielle Pereira, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TREVICIA DELICIA ADAMS will carry the mantle of Miss St. Kitts-Nevis World to Jakarta Indonesia as she represents the Federation in the 63rd Miss World Pageant to be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013.

The Executive Committee of the St. Kitts-Nevis Miss World was very proud to announce the great news and stated how important it was to select a young lady who possessed certain criteria qualities which include: stage experience, stage presence, beauty, talent and intellectual capabilities.

Trevicia Adams, ‘Barbie’ as she is affectionately known, is a 22-year-old beauty who hails from Newtown, Basseterre. She is no stranger to the stage as she has participated in 10 pageants, locally, regionally and internationally, to date and has a perfect placing record.

In 2011 she was adjudged First Runner-up in the prestigious St. Kitts National Carnival Queen Pageant and in 2012 was crowned Miss Caribbean Culture Queen in Nevis. And in May of this year she represented the Federation in the Miss Caribbean World Pageant held in Tortola, BVI and was adjudged 4th Runner-up.

Trevicia did an interview with SKNVibes and this is what she shared:

“First, let me say I am honoured and quite excited to be chosen to represent the Federation in the Miss World 2013. Any young lady who loves pageantry as much as I do has only dreamt of such a moment, and I am quite ecstatic that I was afforded the opportunity to be a part of my Federation’s history.

“I have been a fan of Miss World and Miss Universe since a very tender age. Pageants such as this and the Miss Universe have motivated me to believe in myself and that anything is possible…”

When asked what takes place when preparing for a pageant, Trevicia explained, “I began preparations for shows of this caliber by participating in as many shows as possible in order to gain the necessary skill for my pageant, professional and business life. I can say I have participated in 10 pageants thus far.

“From my first attempt at pageantry, it was hard work and tears. My preparation process for each pageant begins with researching the pageant and my competitors, then discussing what is to be done for each segment and then finally rehearsals, which is definitely the most difficult of all the factors involved. You wouldn’t want to be at one of my rehearsals…it is very close to war, but at the end of it all there is still love amongst my team and I.”

Trevicia further explained that indeed preparation for the Miss World Pageant would be different because she is now responsible for sourcing a percentage of her sponsorship; so some of her time would actually be spent towards that aspect of her preparations.

She added: “I am working towards having a strong team of workers and volunteers to ensure that I am successful, not just as a winner but by making my country known to the world. I am first an ambassador for my country and then I am a contestant in the Miss World Pageant. Country above Self!

What does this small island beauty gain from pageantry? Trevicia expressed: “I can say, pageantry is the main contributor for the person I am today…self-confident, warm spirited, welcoming and the kind hearted person I have grown to be are the qualities I developed because of my involvement in pageants.

Our Miss St. Kitts-Nevis World representative foresees her greatest challenge being the fact that she comes from such a small island where there is a lack of resources and experience in such prestigious pageants. With the criteria being a bit different than what she is accustomed, Trevicia declared that financially it would definitely be a task.

In closing our interview with the newly-appointed Miss World St. Kitts-Nevis, Trevicia wanted everyone to know that “even though we may be in the spotlight and the eyes of the general public, we are still individuals trying to do something positive for ourselves and for our country. So please extend more support”…

The Executive Committee of the SKN Miss World St. Kitts-Nevis said they are confident that Trevicia would perform to the best of her ability and make the Federation proud.

They asked that Kittitians and Nevisians rally behind Trevicia and give her full support as well as follow her journey to Indonesia by logging on to her Facebook page: Miss St. Kitts Nevis World 2013.

SKNVibes extends extreme well wishes to Trevicia Adams and accepts her personal invitation to follow her journey to the Miss World 2013 Pageant.
