Nevis Sandwatchers attend Climate Change Regional Meeting

(L to R) Stefan Murrell, Miriam Knorr and Rachel Yearwood

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – TWO students of the Lyn Jeffers School, Rachel Yearwood and Stefan Murrell, earlier this month represented Nevis at the Sandwatchers Conference held in Barbados.

The students were accompanied to the conference by Miriam Knorr, Coodinator of Nevis Sandwatchers.

The students said they learnt facts about Climate Change and its impact in the Caribbean and were exposed to a variety of media formats through which they could communicate messages. The format included Drama, Information Technology, Story Telling and Video.

Yearwood and Murrell were chosen because of their passionate and active involvement in sand-watching activities. They have designed a programme of activities through which they will pass on to other students and the society what they learnt at the conference.~~Adz:Right~~

The major funders of the five-day workshop were Commonwealth Foundatio; British High Commission, Bridgetown; the DFID Programme; Paris-based UNESCO; and the Caribbean Tourism Organisation.
