Police form community partnership with the Montserrat Motor Sports Association

    BRADES, Montserrat (June 11, 2013) – The Royal Montserrat Police Service and the Montserrat Motor Sports Association have entered into a “Community Services Partnership” says a top official.

     

    According to a statement on the RMPS website from Deputy Commissioner Bradley Siddell, “the objectives of the mutual beneficial agreement are to encourage traffic safety plus professional driving habits while simultaneously promoting the lawful practice of motor sports in Montserrat.
     
    The agreement highlights six commitments in the partnership. They are:
     
    The RMPS shall guide and counsel the MMSA on best traffic safety practices.
     
    The RMPS and MMSA shall work to establish safe racing protocols and procedures.
     
    The RMPS shall work to establish a lawful racing location and schedule.
     
    The MMSA shall encourage lawful driving practices in all Montserrat communities and shall assist the RMPS on occasions to promote and educate safe and lawful driving practices, namely adhering to speed regulations.
     
    The MMSA commits to continue its operations within the laws of Montserrat.
     
    The RMPS and MMSA shall work together to promote this professional relationship for the good of the country and its residents.
     
    The MMSA comprises men and women on island who are passionate about racing. The group has made two trips to Nevis to compete in the annual WINFEST and has brought back trophies for their accomplishments. At present, there is no designated safe area for the racers to practice on island.
