BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE seven contestants of the second annual Miss National Bank White Sands Swimsuit Competition were revealed to the public last evening (Jun. 13) at a simple but elegant affair held on the picturesque waterfront property of Carambola Beach Club at the South East Peninsula.
This year’s contestants are Kersha Martin, Ashley Maloney, Anita Sullivan, Natalia Williams, Danelia Huggins, Dellecia Wilkes and Felicia Silcott.
Dressed in the themed colour of white and high heels of varying styles, one by one, each lovely lady strutted and posed before an appreciative audience which showered them with rousing applauses and loud cheers.
Yesterday’s ceremony was the official media launch of White Sands - ‘The St. Kitts Music Festival Cool Down’ - presented by Carambola Beach Club.
Fittingly, this entertainment action is slated to take place on Sunday (June 30) on the heels of the 17th annual St. Kitts Music Festival (June 2729) at the Warner Park Stadium in Basseterre.
The action commences from 2:00 p.m.
Past St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Queen Johan Kelly chaired the ceremony and gave details of the anticipated “exciting” Cool Down event which she said would be an “all day” outing.
Kelly informed that she would be the presenter for the Swimsuit Competition while Wayne ‘Piece-A-Man’ Phillip would host the daytime event.
For the Swimsuit Contest, she stated that the contestants would make three appearances, including the Fanfare which is a non-judged segment.
For the two-judged segments, in the first, all contestants would sport a white piece provided by White Sand.
Kelly explained that the contestants could adorn their swimsuits as they would like so as to “give sense of uniqueness”.
In the second category, contestants are required to wear a swimsuit of their choice.
Features on the White Sand affairs will see lots of giveaways and prizes along with a foam party pit and water sports.
On the entertainment line-up would be Jazzique and the Greenhouse Band and also DJ Kevy Kev from Florida.
Attendees should note that admission will be free once dressed in white; if not, one will be asked to pay $5.
Additionally, there will be reserved seating at $25 per person, which includes complimentary welcome cocktails (with limited availability).
Among those in attendance at last evening’s event were owners of Carambola Beach Club Arthur Sharp and his wife Daislyn; Governor General of St. Kitts-Nevis, His Excellency Sir Edmond Lawrence; Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Sir Dwight K. Venner; Managing Director of ECCB and Director of the West Indies Cricket Board Jennifer Nero; General Manager of LIME David Lake; Manager and Producer of St. Kitts Visitors Channel Sharon Stevens-James; owner of Movado Model Agency Jason Amory; owner of Identity Top Model Management Karissa Browne; owner of Flair Model Agency Mikieda Franklin and St. Kitts-Nevis Miss World representative and reigning Caribbean Culture Queen Trevicia ‘Barbie’ Adams.
