Dr. Harris’ Week climaxed with competitive games, entertainment

~~Adz:Right~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A week which was organised in celebration of 15 years of helpful and outstanding service by Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, Member of Parliament of St. Christopher Number Seven and Minister of Finance, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, came to an end at the Molyneux Hard Court at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 23 when the pulsating sounds of the Lighthouse Band from Sandy Point came to a halt.

The entertainment was preceded by a highly competitive Constituency Number Seven Primary School Netball Competition that featured the Edgar T Morris Primary School (Tabernacle), Estridge Primary School (Mansion), Violet Petty Primary School (Lodge Project) and the Molyneux Primary School with a home court advantage.

The results of the encounter saw the Edgar T Morris Primary emerging winners of the competition while Estridge Primary placed second, Molyneux third and Violet Petty fourth. The games were refereed by national netball coaches Amanda French and Hilarine Blanchette.

The adults then took over the court with Lodge, Mansion and Phillips engaging in netball competition. Mansion emerged victorious followed by Lodge and Phillips.

Dr. Harris was visibly pleased with the players’ participation and the large and enthusiastic turnout of fans and well-wishers. He said he was most impressed by the high standard of play exhibited by the primary school pupils and thanked their schools for participating.

“The adult netball teams reminded us of the reservoir of talent that we have in galore and we should ensure that these talents are being used for good,” said Dr. Harris.

Dr. Harris is celebrating 15 years of unbroken Parliamentary service to the people of Belle Vue to Ottleys Village. He convincingly won four general elections contested in 1993, 1995, 2000 and 2004. He significantly increased the votes cast in his favour, obtaining one of the highest percentages of votes cast and margin of victory in the 2004 general elections.
