11th Grader knifes another – victim in critical condition, attacker on the run

Shevon Johnson was killed at school.

KINGSTON, Jamaica - THE Jamaican Constabulary Force has launched a manhunt for an 11th grade student who allegedly stabbed his fellow 11th grader on their Penwood High School campus yesterday (Nov. 24).

According to the Jamaica Observer, the victim, who is said to have been stabbed three times to his arm, left chest and back, is hospitalised and is in critical condition. The media house also stated that the accused perpetrator scaled a wall and fled, despite the efforts of school security to nab him.

According to teachers and students, the altercation between the two erupted following a gambling game in which they were involved.

They were playing sinker during class time…The boy that was stabbed ran out of a classroom well bloodied. He almost collapsed and was assisted by female students and teachers.

Other reports suggest that the alleged attacker was once a student of a school in East Kingston and had a history of violence before he was transferred to Penwood High.

This stabbing incident comes exactly one week after 16-year-old Shervon Johnson was hacked to death, reportedly by a fellow Dunoon Technical High School student.

The Jamaica Observer reported that the incident occurred over a Nokia cellular telephone shortly before students of that school were to have attended a conflict resolution class.

“The boy wicked you see. Shevon run from him and him run him down and stab him. The knife hitch up inna Shevon and him (attacker) use him foot and kick him (Shevon) offa the knife before him stab him two more time. The last time him twist the knife inna Shevon,” a comrade of the deceased was quoted by the Observer as saying.

~~Adz:Right~~It further reports that a police source said the student accused of Shevon's murder was involved in another violent incident at another high school some months ago and was brought before the court. The teenager was said be under a court-imposed probation order.

Teacher of the conflict resolution class and former gang banger Orlando Hamilton was about to begin his class when he saw a wounded Shervon bleeding.

“I had to rush him to hospital in my car but he died about five minutes after we reached.”

Johnson’s alleged attacker was taken into police custody and grief-stricken students, some of whom witnessed the incident, have had to seek counselling.
