BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TWO first half goals in front of home crowd have propelled the Hobson Enterprise Garden Hotspurs into the Top Four of the Digicel Premier League.
The home team dominated the game from the outset against the St. Thomas Trinity Strikers and took full advantage of their dominance to get an early lead when Carlos Bertie’s 6th minute screamer sent fans into rapture with a strike from 25 yards.
The Spurs team continued to dominate ball possession and was rewarded with a second goal when Timothy Smithen tapped the ball passed the goalkeeper in the 19th minute.
Spurs’ dominance continued in the second half but they were unable to cash in on the many opportunities that were created, which was to the disappointment of their fans who were craving for an addition to the tally.
With the win, Spurs now jumps into fourth place with 24 points, just ahead of St. Paul’s which has 23 points but has played one game less.
Yellow cards were given to Javier Gaiton and Carlos Bertie of Spurs in the 13th and 53rd minutes respectively. Lance Lewis of Strikers was also yellow carded in the 56th minute.
Officials were Caldon Duncan, Alexis Joseph, Delroy Jeffers and Steadroy Techeira.
