Snake captured in Nevis

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT seems that the incidences of snake sightings are increasing across the Federation, and the most-recent took place earlier today (June 22) on Nevis in the Westbury community.

SKNVibes understands that the find took place shortly after midday and according to information which this publication has received, it was found in a peas patch.

Speaking to this publication on condition of anonymity, an individual who witnessed the capture explained that at first he/she had no interest in viewing the reptile but eventually curiosity got the better of him/her.

“I was inside cleaning and my mother was outside and she told me to come outside to see a snake. I told her I didn’t want to see it so I didn’t go outside then. But then I heard commotion and when I ran outside, I saw that my uncle and a neighbour were looking for it. Then I saw the long tail through the bushes and I saw him pull it out and he was wrangling with it.”

The individual said a neighbour had indicated that she was doing some cleaning on the outside of her home earlier that morning where she saw a small snake which she killed.

Additional information given by the source suggests that at least two other sightings have been made over the past couple of months.

As for the reptile which was captured today…it was reportedly removed from the property.

Earlier this month, a snake was sighted and captured in the Lime Kiln area and this publication also understands that what appeared to be a baby snake was sighted in that general area yesterday (June 21).
