BASSTERRE, St. Kitts, June, 26th 2013 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis is reporting a 30 percent increase in cruise passengers arrivals in May this year, inspite of a similar decrease in cruise ship arrivals in May last year.
The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) said 19,199 cruise passengers disembarked from six cruise ships in May this year compared to 9 cruise ships in 2012 which brought in 14,652 passengers, an increase of 4,547 passengers.
SCASPA also reports that 45 yachts visited in May this year compared to 30 last year, a 50 percent increase with 33 passengers onboard.
SCASPA also reported that a 106 percent increase in the importation of vehicles in May this year ted in May this year compared May last year. 1,372 vehicles were offloaded in May this year compared to 666 in May last year, an increase of 706.
SCASPA also reports a 206 percent increase in the importation of fuels and oils in May this year compared to the same month last year. General cargo registered a 57 per cent increase, lumber, 70 percent; cement decreased 95 percent and aggregate, down, 17 percent.
