BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MANY locals had assembled at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium yesterday (Jun. 26) to take advantage of the free jam session provided by the local bands and to warm up for tonight’s opening of the 17th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival.

The jam session was provided by the Nu Vybes Band International (De Sugar Band), Kollision Band, Small Axe Band and the Grand Masters Band, all of which had used time allocated to them for sound checks in preparation for tonight’s event.

The sound check schedule ran from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Today, sound checks will be done by the Kore Band from Nevis and other bands that will be providing musical accompaniment for Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyon and Super Blue from Trinidad.

SKNVibes, last night, visited the venue while Small Axe was onstage getting their sound check together, and many persons were seen dancing and bouncing around to the band’s music.

This media house, while there, spoke with two popular entertainment personalities, Ellia Jeffers and Pedro Rouse, who are known to like ‘wukking up’ and overall enjoying themselves at various social events.

Rouse shared that Small Axe sounded the “cleanest”, while Jeffers, who is a volunteer of the Music Festival, echoed Rouse’s sentiment but also stated that Nu Vybes International Band sounded “good”.

Following the sound check, this media house spoke with the Productions Manager of the St. Kitts Music Festival, Adrian Lam, who informed that there was no hiccup in the sound checks...”they went fine”.

He explained that the purpose of sound checks is to ensure that the sound levels are set.

It is understood that with so many bands taking part, it is not the norm to have sound checks for all of them; but, according to Lam,  he had to make sure that the “locals bands are comfortable”.

The Thursday night of the annual extravaganza is referred to as the ‘Jump up Night’, and tonight promises to be exciting as usual.
