Press Release

BRADES, Montserrat (June 28, 2013) – The new entry requirements for Zone C come into place at 8 am on Monday 1st July 2013.

According to a notice from the Governor’s Office, “there will no longer be special constables on the entry gates but anyone going into the zone must be in possession of a pass. These are available at the Salem Police Station and everyone should obtain one before their first entry to the zone. A leaflet with details of the entry requirements is also available from the police station.”

The public is cautioned that “there must be no sand mining from Foxes Bay without the express permission and accompanying pass from the Ministry of Agriculture in Brades. Police officers patrolling the zone will ask for such a pass if any vehicle is found taking sand from the Foxes Bay beach. Anyone in contravention of this rule is subject to prosecution.”

The Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA) recently completed work to install and test new sirens for the Day-Time Entry Zone. When the emergency sirens sound in Zone C, the public is advised to immediately evacuate the zone.
