BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE are investigating the death of a male St. Paul’s villager whose decomposed body was found at Belmont Estate on Sunday (Jun. 30).

A police release stated that the deceased was identified as 52-year-old Kennedy ‘Kjauni’ Phipps of Leader’s Avenue in St. Paul’s Village.

It also stated that on the day in question, officers of St. Paul’s Police Station, the Violent Crime Unit and a number of others had responded to a report of human remains found at Belmont Estate.

The release said that a villager, whilst passing an abandoned estate house, was hit with a foul scent; and upon investigation found Phipps’ body in an advanced state of decomposition.

Asked if foul play is suspected, the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lyndon David, told this media house that investigators have not ruled out that factor, but it could only be determined following the results of a post mortem which would soon be conducted.
