Dr. Drew confirmed as possibility for Constituency Eight

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN short order, constituents of St. Christopher Three would no longer be in suspense as to who their St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) representative for the upcoming General Elections would be.

Last evening (Jul. 1) at the SKNLP’s ‘Face to Face’ session, Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Denzil L. Douglas was questioned by a resident of St. Christopher Three about when the constituents of that area would be informed of who their representative would be.

The Political Leader of the Federation indicated that there are three possibilities: Attorney General Jason Hamilton, calypsonian Konris ‘King Konris’ Maynard and Osbert France, the grandson of national hero the Rt. Excellent Sir Joseph Nathaniel France.

He said these men are “waiting to be finally assessed”.

The Prime Minister described Maynard as one who is “very much able to demonstrate the highest levels of responsibility” and one who is “fully committed to the Labour enterprise and agenda”.

And referring to Hamilton, Dr. Douglas expressed that he is “a young man steeped in the party and in administrative responsibilities”.

While he didn’t identify a timeline at the end of which the candidate would be identified, Dr. Douglas said the “people of our country and constituents of Constituency Number Three, within a very short time, we shall make the final decision as to our candidate”.

Until such time shall have come however, Prime Minister Douglas is urging constituents of St. Christopher Three to “demand that Condor resign, resign now! Resign now! Resign now”!

Speaking with SKNVibes, Deputy Chairman of the SKNLP – the Hon. Nigel Carty said it is expected that at the same time that the representative for St. Christopher Three is selected and the public informed, the representative for St. Christopher Eight would also be selected and the public would be informed.

He confirmed that in addition to former Parliamentary Representative for that constituency, Cedric Liburd, Dr. Terrance Drew is one of the individuals being considered to represent the SKNLP in the upcoming General Elections.
