    Republic of China on Taiwan Ambassador to St. Kitts and Nevis Her Excellency Mrs. Marietta Liau.
    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JUNE 14TH 2005
     The Federal Government is supporting a request from the Nevis Island Administration to the Republic of China on Taiwan for the further development of the Island of Nevis.
    The Republic of China on Taiwan Resident Ambassador, Her Excellency Madame Marietta Liau in a letter dated June 3rd 2005, informed Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas, that Taiwan is happy to assist the Nevis Island Administration with funding for a multi-purpose centre and upgrade of the sporting facility for Nevis.
     
    The Republic of China has agreed to give the Vance Amory led-Concerned Citizens Movement Administration US$1 million as a grant and an additional US$2 million as a loan.
     
    The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) looks forward to continue playing a vital role and partner in the development of the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, said Ambassador Liau.
     

    St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister and Minister, Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas (l) and Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Vance Amory.

     

    She said the US$3 million project was requested by Premier Amory through the Offices of Prime Minister Douglas.
