BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - GLOBAL sprint icon Kim Collins today (Jul. 4) ran a sub-10 second time in a 100m event held in Switzerland, which will be a new national record pending ratification.
Collins finished fourth behind winner Tyson Gay of the USA, Asafa Powell of Jamaica and Micheal Rogers of the USA who edged out Collins to steal third place.
The 37-year-old Kittitian sprinter on Sunday (Jun. 30) placed third in Birmingham after recovering from a slow start.
Nesta Carter of Jamaica won the race.
The current national record in the 100m was set by Collins in 2005 in Manchester, England when he won the event at the Commonwealth Games with a time of 9.98 seconds.
