BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER more than four hours in police custody, former leader of the People’s Action Movement Lindsay Grant was released on bail.
Grant was taken into custody sometime after 5:00 p.m. yesterday (July 5) during a Unity march.
Deputy Leader of the PAM Jonel Powell – while speaking with this publication – explained that Grant was officially arrested and charged with “obstruction” and was subsequently granted bail.
Several versions of the incident leading to Grant’s arrest have been circulating across radio stations and through the streets of the Federation.
According to one version, Grant was confronted by a police officer who dragged him through a barricade, beating him in the process.
Another suggests that Grant – off his own free will – broke through the barricade and proceeded to beat a police officer.
If the police follow through with the matter, Grant – a lawyer by profession – is expected to face the court sometime in the future.
