BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A young man from Upper Monkey Hill in St. Peter’s was reportedly stabbed to death early this morning (Jul. 7) on ‘De Strip’ in Frigate.

    Dead is 19-year-old Colin Merchant.

Information reaching this media house indicates that the incident took place sometime after 3:00 a.m. in the vicinity of Vibes Beach Bar.

Merchant originally hailed from sister isle Nevis but had been living on St. Kitts from an early age.

This latest killing has taken the Federation’s homicide count to 18 for the year.

Police have issued a release stating that they are "actively searching for a person of interest".

Merchant’s death comes seven days after Antonio ‘Dollar’ Hutton from Nevis was reportedly shot to death at his home in Bath Village.

Information reaching this media house had indicated that sometime around 11:00 p.m. on Jun. 30 Hutton was on the verandah of his home when a gunman approached and fired at him. He reportedly ran into the house but was pursued and killed by his attacker.
