BASSETERRE St. Kitts, July 9th 2013 - The mother of Calistus Browne, who was gunned down by police in January, 2013 is seeking justice after 6 months of his death.
Ms. Collins stated that police murdered her son 6 months ago and to date she has not been given any information as to the outcome of the investigation.
Ms. Collins also stated that she has made several visits and phone calls to the Basseterre Police Station and no one can give her any information on their findings.
Ms. Collins believe that her son was brutally murdered receiving 5-6 gunshot wounds from the police officer and that it was cold blooded murder.
She is asking for assistance in brining the police officer to justice. She also believes that she is being ignored by the investigating officers and the DPP because the murder of her son was a wrongful one.
"This is not the first time a police officer killed someone in St. Kitts without a conviction" she said. “I will not rest until I get justice. I am in search of an attorney who is not afraid to take this to court with me."
"The police are always brandishing their guns at the first opportunity they get. My son was never to be murdered on that day. He didn't have a gun. He suffered from gunshot wounds all over his body including his head. The police stand up and watch my son and his sister struggle for a knife and did nothing, nothing at all. But because he was trigger happy and wanted to kill somebody he waited for my son to run to shoot him multiple times about his body. How do they expect me to just drop this and leave it alone?
I can't do that and I won't do that. They are supposed to be keeping peace but instead they are causing war. They expect to kill people and get away with it because they are police? Well I'm not going to roll over like a helpless dog and do nothing. Justice must prevail. And if I don't get any satisfaction I am sending this story to Trinidad and to the UK." Those are the words from a grieving mother, Ms. Collins.
