BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - CONAREE FC and Hobson Enterprise Garden Hotspurs were the big winners in last weekend’s matches played in the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) Digicel Premier Division.
Playing the first game on Saturday (July 6) at the Garden’s Playfield, three second half goals by Conaree propelled them further at the top of the League as they whipped St. Thomas/Trinity Strikers 3-nil.
Scoring for Conaree was Andy Liburd in the 52nd minute via a penalty before Keshawn Francis doubled the advantage in the 71st minute, while Kadeem Lewis sealed the deal in the 87th minute.
Officials were Kimbell Ward, Mario Parry, O'Brien Clarke and Travester Richards.
The second game, which was played at the same venue, saw Rams Village Superstars going up against Hobson Enterprises Garden Hotspurs in what was deemed the most exciting game of the weekend.
In the first half, both teams created ample opportunities but failed to capitalise on them.
In the second half, however, a counter attack by Spurs, completed with a header by Rovan Wigley in the 61st minute, placed the team ahead.
With a 1-nil deficit, Village Superstars went all out for the equaliser but were unsuccessful in penetrating the safe hands of Spurs goalkeeper.
This win for Spurs is now their fifth in a row.
Officials were James Matthew, Alexis Joseph, Stedroy Douglas and Stedroy Techeira.
On the following day at the Newtown Playing Field, SPD United and Mantab played out to a 2-all draw.
The opening goal came from an SPD breakaway in the 41st minute off the boot of Steven Nolan.
In the second half, two quick-fire goals, one from Kievon Harris in the 52nd minute and a Jermaine Carey’s 56th minute penalty, gave Mantab a 2-1 lead. However, a brilliant finish from Evansley Barnes in the 66th minute brought SPD back on level terms.
Officials were Tristly Bassue, James Matthew, Florencetine Morton and Steadroy Techeira.
The match between Delphic Newtown and S.L. Horsford’s St. Paul’s was off because of lighting problems and it was postponed to a later date.
Officials were Caldon Duncan, Delroy Jeffers, Lloyd Rouse and Steadroy Techeira.
