BRADES, Montserrat (July 10, 2013) – Three school leavers from the Lookout Primary School are the first beneficiaries of contributions from the non-profit charity READ.

READ which stands for Reward Education and Determination made a presentation to Nerissa Meade, Kaylon Thomas and Leighton White during the annual graduation ceremony on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the St. John’s Anglican Church.

Local representative of READ Jamilia Greenaway, said READ is a charity which aims to support education and encourage reading among the youth.

The charity was formed by International Soca Artist Garvin "Scrappy" Johnson to encourage and help the youth of Montserrat to build self-morale, to receive acknowledgment for their EFFORTS and not only results and also support innovative ideas from young minds and bring to life thoughts & concepts, Greenaway explained.

READ intends to contribute to Montserrat on an annual basis or as often as possible.

Greenaway told the school leavers of the Look Out Primary School to do their “best at all times at the Montserrat Secondary School and in the community. Value education. Let no one tell you that you can’t. You are who you want to be. Your future is your own hands.”

READ Charity also sent a gift of stickers featuring Oliver the Oriole and pens to the teachers of the Lookout Primary School.
