BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - VETERAN sprinter Kim Collins continues to shine in the international circuit as, yet again, he has gained victory in the 100 metres. This time, however, it was at the Istvan Gyulai Memorial meet in Budapest, Hungary.
Yesterday (Jul. 10), the 37-year-old Collins breasted the tape in 9.99 seconds ahead of Jamaicans Kemar Bailey Cole (10.07) and Jacques Harvey (10.18).
The race was dominated by Caribbean athletes with Trinidad and Tobago’s Richard Thompson getting home in 10.26 seconds to grab the fourth spot.
And on the distaff side, Trinidad and Tobago’s Kelly-Ann Baptiste took silver in the women’s 100 metres dash after she clocked 11.15 seconds to finish behind Carmelita Jeter of the United States.
Jeter got to the line in 11.07 seconds, while her compatriot Barbara Pierre finished third in 11.15 seconds.
