BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE sound of sirens from Emergency Medical Services vehicles, a Fire and Rescue Services truck and police vehicles permeated the afternoon atmosphere when these response units rushed to the Frigate Bay area to the aid of five individuals who were involved in what appeared to be a serious traffic accident.

The incident – from all accounts – occurred at about 2:40 p.m. today (Jul. 11). And according to reports, a vehicle had run straight into a wall.

Upon arrival at the scene, SKNVibes observed that it was a two-vehicle accident involving motor van TA210 and motorcar P6520 at the mouth of the road which leads to Buddy’s Bar.

Officers of the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services Department, Emergency Medical Technicians, police officers and medical doctors were seen providing assistance to the casualties of the crash.

SKNVibes understands that P6520 carried four Windsor University students and another individual, who – according to unconfirmed reports – all suffered some sort of injury, including fractured bones and or broken limbs.

The driver of that vehicle was trapped within but with the use of the Jaws of Life and other equipment, the Fire and Rescue Services officers – following an approximate 25-minute process – were successful in extricating him from the wreckage.

He, along with the other occupants of the vehicle, was rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for medical treatment.

The circumstances of the incident, as explained to this publication, are that TA210 was travelling from Basseterre’s direction along the Frigate Bay Road with P6520 in the rear. And while P6520 was attempting to overtake, TA210 was about to turn right into the road that leads to Buddy’s Bar when the impact occurred.

Motorcar P6520 reportedly collided with the front right portion of TA210 before slamming into a nearby wall.

The motorcar was extensively damaged and motor van TA210 sustained damage to its right frontal side.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is making investigations into the incident.
