BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MEMBERS of the Strike Force were pelted with missiles on Tuesday night while they were conducting a search of a vehicle in the McKnight area.
Reports emanating from the Press and Public Relations Office of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force are that at approximately midnight (Dec.1), the Strike Force was searching a vehicle during which missiles were thrown at them by unknown persons.
The objects, according to these reports, came from through allies and behind fences which made it impossible for the officers to see who the attackers were.
One of the officers fired a shot and the missile-throwing stopped.
Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Cromwell Henry is reminding the public that it is an offence to throw missiles, especially at officers of the law.
“We would just like to let the public know that throwing missiles is an offence and even worse when they are thrown at officers during the execution of their duty. Police are there to ensure the safety of the public and it doesn’t help when the police are doing that for members of the public to put the police’s safety at risk by throwing missiles.”
The Inspector is appealing with persons to refrain from engaging in such practices.
“We are asking persons to desist from this practice and respect the authority of the police and cooperate as fully as possible.” ~~Adz:Right~~
